Bali's silversmith traditions inspire in Wayan Asmana the freedom to create myriad patterns and designs. He chooses to present a gleaming sterling silver braid as a lithe and elegant bracelet.
Celuk is a Balinese silversmithing center and it is there that Wayan, while still in elementary school, began to learn the art of jewelry making. His father was a well-known silversmith who taught him bon, jawan and other jewelry techniques that have been handed from generation to generation in Celuk. Now in his sixties, Wayan has taught this art to many others and is dedicated to seeing it passed to the next generation.
Wayan and his workers rely on the stable income that Novica sales bring. These sales are their primary source of income.
This artist has dramatically improved their livelihood by working with NOVICA.
This artist is financially supporting children under the age of 18.
Wayan employs two assistants and seven silversmiths.
I am delighted with this bracelet. It was a Christmas gift for my husband and he loves it. The workmanship is beautiful. The weight is substantial. I had been looking for a bracelet for him for several months, so I was familiar with the price of silver bracelets in our area. A comparable bracelet here would be $400-$500. So I was a little skeptical about the quality and was anxious to receive it. I was very pleased when I received it. Also, pleased with the delivery time as well.
