Details

The Incas kept large herds of alpacas in pre-Hispanic times but were forced to flee to higher altitudes along with their animals when the Spanish Conquistadores arrived. Only the fittest alpacas survived the cold climate, and today the fleece sheared from their descendants, who graze at altitudes of 12,500 feet, is warmer than wool and an excellent thermal insulator. Alpaca in an alabaster tone is what Maria Esperanza Jauregui uses to crochet this sumptuously cozy hat. Extra length means added coverage, and the neutral tone allows the soft cap to be worn with everything. A playful pom-pom tops the heavenly accessory.

"This will keep a coed snuggy"

I am more than delighted. This hat is sooo soft, I don't want to put it down. It is a gift for my granddaughter who will soon be facing brutal Midwest winter. I can' wait to give it to her. I made a marvelous choice when I ordered it. Thank you, Maria.
