"My greatest sources of inspiration are the landscapes of my beautiful homeland."
"All my life, I was always working at a thousand projects. It wasn't until I met my husband, Antonio, that I decided to focus on design. He inspired me with his work as he traveled throughout Peru to train artists and artisans in setting up new projects. As I traveled with him, I learned his most important lessons. He inspired me to develop my talent and all my potential. Thanks to him, I discovered how much I enjoy designing and how I love fashion trends. Feeling the textures of our different textile fibers is a wonderful sensation. Antonio has been my teacher, my best friend and my life companion.
"I'm Sandra Rodriguez Buitron, born December 16, 1970. I'm a happy, persevering and super creative woman.
"I left Lima, where I was born, to write a new chapter in my life in the beautiful province of Ayacucho. This colonial city is filled with culture, with religious fervor and with lovely, creative and talented people.
"But it was hard to adjust at first. I eventually connected with local artisans, I adapted to the customs and came to love the popular art, all thanks to my husband and friends who have always believed in me and what I was able to achieve. So I continued working and creating designs.
"One of my dreams has been to become a great designer and showcase our Andean talent beyond the borders of Peru.
"I want to see my children grow and achieve everything they want to in life.
"Living day by day in a community so rich in talent is great. Many artisans dedicate their entire lives to their work. I've learned a great deal about processes and techniques in their workshops. Visiting art fairs with my husband helps me identify fashion trends.
"To master my art, I had to practice a great deal. I had to study, visit fashion fairs, share my designs with artisans and experience every step in the process, from selecting the fibers all the way to marketing the finished apparel.
"What I like best is combining colors and seeing the final design come to life — seeing them physically and feeling the textures is really something beautiful. It fills my heart with emotions, because these are my own designs. Fashion and trends change constantly and I love the challenge of creating ever-new designs that are filled with life and color.
"My greatest sources of inspiration are the landscapes of my beautiful homeland, the variety of colors, the vast blue skies and white clouds, the verdant valleys, the architecture and traditional dress."
