Highly revered and beloved by the Mexican people, the Virgin of Guadalupe inspires Ana Maria Gonzalez to create a collection of decoupage crosses in her honor. In 1999, Pope John Paul II named Our Lady of Guadalupe patron saint of the Americas, and she is celebrated on December 12. Her well-known image miraculously appeared on the Saint Juan Diego's robe, where he was carrying Castilian roses as proof of her appearance to him. Guadalupe sent him to the Spanish bishop to convince him to a build a church in her honor. In this cross, Guadalupe is welcomed into Heaven by God and His angels.

"My First Novica Purchase From Ana Maria Gonzales"
Over time I have purchased a number of Ana Maria's stunning decoupage crosses and decorative boxes. This is the one that began my collection. While the feeling is rustic and antique, the cross itself is finely and perfectly finished--without flaw. The picture doesn't do it justice. There is substance to the pinewood and the edge is beveled and beautifully finished in a muted gold. The metal ring for hanging has the appearance of aged iron. The colors are clear, yet soft. The size is 11 inches high, small enough to fit above a doorway or in a grouping of objects, and still large enough to make an impression when hung alone. This is a very tasteful cross, crafted with care and artistry. I was so happy when I received it, that I immediately ordered a second cross from the artist, the larger "Virgin Morenita Guadalupe."

"Lovely and inspiring"
The other review (at present there is only one other) describes the quality and beauty of this little work of art perfectly. The size was one of the deciding factors for me - and the delicacy of the details. Everything is put together with reverence as well as skill. I like meeting Guadalupe around the house, and she touches the heart in this representation.
