Featured Reviews on Akan Masks
This mask is one of the most stunning pieces of art that I have ever had the privilege to own!!! I know I always leave positive reviews as you could see from my profile but this time I am ABSOLUTELY floored!!! I am so happy with it!!! Just a striking, original and fantastic mask. I am so in awe. I love masks and try to restrain myself so I dont have a house full of masks but this one just haunted me until I bought it and I just love it. Thanks so much, Novica!!! Never disappoints!!!

Magnificent monkey business!
Large, well made. Unique piece and a great addition to my collection. Artist is very talented. One down side, you have to rig your own way to hang. Would be better with a wire or hanger screwed into the inside of mask.
Liked so much I ordered it twice.
I was so enthralled with the beauty of this mask, that I accidentally ordered this mask twice. Its beautiful. I love the gold tones and design. I kept the second mask and have it hanging in a separate room.

"In 2000, I went into carving and since then I have never regretted it. But I haven't abandoned painting completely either."

Authentic African Masks (Pair), "God's Gift of Twins"$109.99
By Abdul Aziz Mohamadu, two beautiful masks show the same basic design. Yet each is decorated differently — one with ornate brass repoussé, the other with colorful beadwork. He names the pair which means "God's gift" in the Twi language. "This is my idea of fraternal twins," the Ghanaian artisan explains. "Children are truly a gift from God."
Unique Hand Carved Wood and Jute African Monkey Mask, "Baule Gbekre II"$237.99
For the Baule, one of the largest ethnic groups in the Ivory Coast, masks serve as an important connection to the spiritual world. Salihu Ibrahim of Ghana creates this Baule-style monkey mask, hand-carved of sese wood and replete with a mane of jute cords. Horizontal lines on the cheeks and forehead represent facial scarification.
Authentic Ghanaian Artisan Carved African Mask, "Peace and Harmony"$117.99
A gentle dove alights atop this handsome African mask. By Ghana's Abdul Aziz Mohamadu, it is carved and painted by hand, with applications of aluminum repoussé. "I named this original mask design an Akan phrase which means 'peace and harmony'," the artisan explains.
Ghanaian Handmade African Mask, "Healer"$137.99
Quiet yet imposing, this elegant African mask is named "healer" in the Twi language of Ghana's Akan people. Samuel Okyere transforms native sese wood into an original design, painting it by hand and adding rich textures in embossed aluminum. "We all need a healer at some point in time, but God is the great healer," he explains.
