Andean alpaca apparel and accessories in The Andes
"...knitting is something that naturally runs through my veins. It's my passion. I love having the freedom to create what my imagination allows without limits or defined boundaries.""I was born in the beautiful and radiant imperial city of Cuzco, known for its historical, cultural and architectural legacy. I am an entrepreneurial man, innovative and a perfectionist, dedicated to my work.
"Thanks to my parents' constant and persevering efforts I was able to finish my schooling. They gave me their unconditional love and support, and were with me during the most important times of my life. I spent my childhood in direct contact with nature — the fields and animals. The Peruvian highlands are known for their clear skies, green meadows where beautiful animals graze, and mountain landscapes that make you fall in love with their heights. My family took frequent trips to Puno province and we spent time with different artisans there.
"Because I went everywhere with my family, I was a very curious boy and was interested in what they were doing. I enjoyed helping them choose the best yarns and listened to their conversations with the other knitters on how to create apparel. This caught my attention even when I was still a boy. Color combinations and talking with tourists became a part of my daily life.
"I became interested in this art primarily through my family and the closeness I had with them. I was always attracted to different arts and knitting is something that naturally runs through my veins. It's my passion. I love having the freedom to create what my imagination allows without limits or defined boundaries.
"It took years of learning, constant dedication and strength to bring out my ideas and work on my own. I haven't stopped learning more and more.
"It's especially satisfying to know that the materials, knitting and the quality of my designs are 100 percent Peruvian. The talent that exists in Peru is incredible. This is where my inspiration is born — from the beautiful valleys, plains, mountains, clear skies, the animals, the air, the streets, fields, rivers, and everyday experiences.
"My work is characterized not only by its quality. I design and also seek allies to collaborate with me. I look for the same entrepreneurial spirit and life philosophy as my own. I seek gender equality and support new generations of women who seek a better future. It's not about just my growth, but also that of the people who surround me.
"I dream of being internationally recognized and for my knitting to transmit the real meaning of this art to shoppers. I'd like them to learn about this and fall in love with it. I'd like for my work to be a source of inspiration and creativity for others."
