I love the colors and weave of this shawl. Its a little sturdier than I expected, but it still drapes well, and I expect that with use it will soften some. It will be great for cool days and evenings.
This lovely shawl will dress up the simplest of outfits. The colors are vibrant and the texture of the silk is so soft.
I received my beautiful new Sajad scarf a couple days before church this weekend. It was even more intricate, soft, and beautiful in person than I imagined. I feel so lucky to have picked out such a gorgeous addition to wear to church, where the air conditioning is known to really be chilly during some of the long winded sermons.
Handwoven Silk Shawl with Geometric Motif from India, "Kolkata Beauty"
Perfect for any season, this charming silk shawl is woven on a traditional loom and patterned using hand block printing techniques. Upon an ivory base, eye-catching geometric shapes in blue decorate the central panel, with two bands of abstract stars in the same shade adorning either end. Indian artisans Rajnandinee and Srabonti complete their design with a solid border in peridot green and neat fringe on both ends.
As is typical of genuine handloomed fabric, there are tiny slubs throughout. This occurs when a thread runs out, and the weaver extends it by twisting a new thread together with the old.
Tie Dye Blue and Rose Varanasi Silk Shawl, "Festive Color Fusion"
By Madhu Agrawal, this beautiful shawl gives a modern look to traditional Varanasi silk, which originated in the town of Banaras. The strands are tie-dyed before they are patiently woven by hand, with nuances of fuchsia, teal, orange, yellow and green that ripple across an expanse of blue.
